We're gearin' up for a great time with the 2008 "Palettes of Keuka"
It’s that time again! The Palettes of Keuka is kicking off year Two of this annual event and we’re calling all artists to join in on the fun! Last year’s event was a terrific success for all, even more than we had hoped for!
WHAT IS "THE PALETTES OF KEUKA"?
Local businesses, organizations and individuals are given the opportunity to sponsor the creation of a painting by a local artist on a large "artist's Palette". These Palettes will then be displayed outdoors (or indoors) at each sponsors location throughout the Summer months beginning in July. A map will be available that shows where each palette is displayed. The event will close with an auction. All of the palettes will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. Each artist will receive 50% of the auction price for their piece. The remaining proceeds as well as other funds generated by this event will be used to support the Arts in and around the area.
We hope to have many more palettes this year as we simply ran out at last year's auction! Collectors braved the elements and stood in the pouring rain for the opportunity to bid on their favorite palettes. All 36 palettes were gone in only 45 minutes! Several bidders went home empty handed as there just wasn't enough to go around! Each year profits from the event will be earmarked specifically for promotion of local arts.
